At Kanpai Japanese Restaurant we want you to leave with memories of innovative flavours and dynamic dishes, all served by our passionate team in a modern Japanese space just opposite the beautiful white sandy beaches of Huskisson.
Our menu is created by Yoshi Tanimo which draws on traditional Japanese cuisine and is joined with a modern contemporary western style of exciting flavours.
Kanpai Japanese Restaurant will aim to continually surprise and delight you with its dynamic, evolving menu and exciting outdoor tapas grill and bar.
A variety of enticing dining options are available to you, whether it’s group bookings, partying or simply looking for a great night out we will be able to accommodate and surprise you with our dynamic food and drink menu.
We have an awesome outdoor area with a separate and grill where you can ask the chef to cook you something fresh off the grill or sip sake and eat sashimi while you admire the beautiful views that Huskisson has to offer.

Kanpai Japanese Restaurant is located in Huskisson, Jervis bay.
Yoshi Tanimo
Yoshi is an acclaimed contemporary Japanese chef. Born and bread in Japan Yoshi has an extensive list of professional culinary achievements to his name. Most notably he was working at the 2 hatted Sydney Japanese restaurant YOSHII as well as the 1 hatted restaurant Bambini.
He has now bought his skill and arsenal of contemporary Japanese cooking to Kanpai where he and the team will create and evolve an exciting menu.
Hirai
Sushi / Sashimi chef – Born just outside of Tokyo, Hirai has been a professional Japanese chef for over 20years. He moved to Tasmania where he worked his own business serving top quality Japanese food. Hirai (Ken) has a passion for Sushi & Sashimi and will present Kanpai with some amazing Izakaya style Japanese dishes.
Shingo Tanaka
Sushi / Sashimi chef – Shingo is our 3rd talented Japanese chef. Born and bred in Japan, Shingo has more than 10 years experience in Japanese kitchens across the world, including a 3 Michelin star restaurant in New York. His sushi / sashimi skills are diverse and contemporary.
He brings some fantastic skills to Kanpai.
